Gérald Lampaert

BIOGRAPHY OF AN UNCONVENTIONAL ENTREPRENEUR

Founder, Owner, President, and CEO of The Vertu Exclusive Group in Zug since 2017, Gérald Lampaert has extensive experience in various fields of the premium service sector, including communication, event management, information technology, and luxury hospitality. Belgian and Swiss, born in the late 70’s, Gérald began his life with an international mindset, first learning several languages and then living and working in multiple countries around the world.

Having spent most of his professional career in hotels and the conference and events industry, he quickly realized that the key success factors in his daily operations were customer focus, service excellence, mastery of craftsmanship in creating premium products, and meticulous attention to detail – just like a jeweler crafting a gem.

Gérald began his professional career in 1992 at The Walt Disney Company, holding various positions ranging from hotel operations, sales, marketing, and organizing large conferences, to digital information management. It was there that he discovered the value of a corporate culture, a vision, quality structure, operational standards, and the importance of focusing on extraordinary results. He also collaborated with A&L Associates, based in Florida, to manage ‘mystery shopper’ quality visits for Hard Rock Café Europe. Seven years later, Gérald continued his career at the Imperial Palace in Annecy, and by the end of 2000, returned to Paris, taking on a regional director role for Continental Europe at Millennium & Copthorne Hotels for nearly three years.

In 2002, Gérald Lampaert founded Luxury Communication at 13 rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, in the prestigious 1st arrondissement of Paris, just steps away from the Louvre Museum. From the start, Gérald established himself as a key player in delivering events for some of the largest luxury brands in Paris. However, he quickly realized that to compete at the highest level in the exclusive world of luxury, fashion, and jewelry, he needed to be closer to these key players and his new clients. This is when he decided to relocate his business to the heart of this privileged circle: 16 Place Vendôme, surrounded by the world’s top jewelers and luxury designers.

With this strategic move, Gérald, as a trade name, rebranded his company as Vendôme Luxury Hospitality, a name that perfectly aligned with his prestigious new address. This change embodied his ambition to offer communication and event management services that met the high standards of the luxury sector and hospitality industry of the same caliber.

About ten years later, for logistical reasons, he moved his headquarters to 10 Place Vendôme, an equally prestigious location, from where he continued to steer his European activities in the world of luxury hospitality and events, while maintaining his commitment to excellence and international innovation. Simultaneously, he held various vice president and strategic advisory roles for international groups based in New York and Houston, including Dolce International and Benchmark Hospitality.

In 2015, he relocated to Zurich, while continuing to lead Vendôme Hospitality / Luxury Communication in Paris, and took the helm of LUXCOM, a company also operating in the world of hospitality and events. His goal was to develop this company in Switzerland and internationally, a role that remains a daily task and very close to his heart today. Also the owner of the Cosmopolitan Records music label since 2004, which he currently keeps dormant, and an entrepreneur at heart, he aspired to bring to life another of his long-standing dreams: creating his own hotel group. This dream took shape in September 2017 with the conception of Riva Signature Hospitality Management, eventually evolving in September 2018 into the creation of VERTU Exclusive Boutique Hotels and Resorts, with the ambition of bringing a fresh and innovative touch to the hospitality world. Despite a catastrophic pandemic for the travel industry, Gérald managed to keep his fleet of activities running, and to this day, like an admiral, he steers his group of companies, which continues to navigate steadily, growing, and confidently.

In terms of his visual identity, Gérald shares with us that while he loves colors, for him, the combination of black and white remains the chicest, most neutral, elegant, and luxurious – like a case crafted by Coco Chanel!

With many other projects in mind, needless to think that he would stop here...
